Kingfish is a queer-focused project space directed by architect Adam Thibodeaux (and previously, artist Jacob Todd Broussard). Founded in 2020, it takes its name from a defunct dance club of the same name in their hometown. Supported in part by the Buffalo Institute of Contemporary Art.

Stratigakos Symposium:

Queer(ing) Space

June 3, 2023 - July 1, 2023

Inaugural Stratigakos Symposium at the University at Buffalo School of Architecture and Planning. Featuring graduate student work from the University at Buffalo, Princeton and the Rhode Island School of Design, as well as conversations with invited panelists, Julie Abraham, Aaron Betsky, Joel Sanders, Harrison Apple, S.E. Eisterer, and Malcolm Rio.

“Queer(ing) Space" builds on the premise that queer spaces are not created, but that instead spaces are put to queer use. It understands and activates "queer" as a verb rather than an adjective, prioritizing appropriation, deconstruction, and activism as primary methods of intervention. The Stratigakos Collection will be engaged with an intersectional lens to understand how methods of queering can be and have been used in service of creating, reclaiming, and protecting queer gathering spaces.

The exhibition will run at Kingfish for the month of June.

Free and open to the public by appointment:
