FLOATER: New works by Dana Tyrrell

Dana Tyrell, 2022

FLOATER presents multiple bodies of work inspired by Niagara Falls, and highlights Tyrrell’s material lexicon of found and appropriated object art as a means to speak across ecological, cultural, and personal narratives. The work within this exhibition draws upon the concept of Niagara Falls; as a locus of tourism, a lure for daredevils and suicides, and as an emblem of man’s tenuous grasp on ecology in the face of climate collapse. Tyrrell’s new work offers elision, appropriation, and detritus as a means to think through a series of unstable stakes.

A graduate of University at Buffalo (2015), Tyrrell's artwork is held in private collections across the United States, and the permanent collections of the Castellani Art Museum, the University at Buffalo Department of Art, the Pride Center of Western New York, and the State University of New York at Fredonia.
